| These stories were judged by standards virtually
identical to the standards for old west canon. The single (though
obviously important) difference is that two (or more) of the Seven are
sexually attracted to each other. However, that fact doesn't change
their basic characterization.
As with old west canon, all these stories
center on one or more of the old west Seven using the known backgrounds,
characteristics, speech patterns, etc. from the series - enhanced,
extrapolated, detailed, developed and augmented. They include stories
that ask "what if" using the supernatural, divergent timelines or science
fiction. How would the canon Seven react if they became master vampires
in the course of defending their town? How would the Seven behave if they
were kept in stasis for over a hundred years and woke up in the Stargate
complex? Old west slash stories also include stories about
how the men's pasts contributed to what they became and stories that suggest
how their futures might develop as the west was tamed or the Seven went
their separate ways. |
